About this book
The theme of exile and lost homeland appears as the theme of economical, social, political, cultural and emotional drama. It also appears as the documentary reality of Kosovo and Metohia, both at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries, and as the theme of great suffering in the 20th and the beginning of the 21st centuries. With some exceptions, this literature is related to the being of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohia, to everything that makes up tradition and heritage and to what we may call the poetic phenomenon and motif of the present time: persecution as doom and destiny.
The monograph by Sunčica Denić about the Serbian literature of Kosovo and Metohia, about persecution and homeland, as well as about genre unity establishes the author as a competent interpreter who evaluates this literature and positions it within the literature of the mother country, pointing to its specificity and its characteristic aesthetic categories and values.
